007, perhaps you can help. I am planning on adding satellite radio module to my Sony in dash stereo. As I understand it all I have to do is to plug into the AUX 2 input on the XA-300, is that right? Can I tune the satellite receiver through the sony radio or do I have to use the satellite module for tuning?
Thanks
Dave

I added satellite to my Sony reciever. You will definitely want to control the satellite station selection from the Sony reciever for safety driving down the road.
In addition to the audio input you mentioned you will need to connect a control cable. That way information from the satellite radio module shows up on the reciever display and you can select satellite stations easily.

Marvel thanks for the info. Where do you get the control cable? Did you install a generic satellite radio or one specifically for the Sony?

I bought an XM module made especially for Sony. Everthing was included (antenna, cables etc). It was integrated well with the Sony reciever in that the satellite radio was another input along with AM, FM and CD. The sattelite radio ID and in some cases the song played is displayed on the reciever. The station presets and the IR remote also worked with the satellite radio input.
I bought mine from Crutchfield and they were very knowledgeable about which Satellite reciever would work well with my Sony reciever.

Dave, if you have a XA-300 I think there are two inputs you can use the one in use for my I-Pod you can see plugged into it. You just have to match up cables from your SAT Radio.
Use only the low outputs from Sat radio not Spk outputs.
I still see on line the XA-300 for sale by Sony or on E-Bay.

Thanks 007, That's pretty much what I expected. Any thoughts on using a control cable plugged into the XA 300 so you can control the sat radio from the Sony?
Dave

There is a 6 pin control input to radio that was used for a 6 or 10 disk CD player. Would not think you could use that off Sat radio.
My remote for radio would control the disk player plus select stations and volume control and display modes of radio.
As to cable from Sat radio to XA-300 Radio Shack has a assortment of RCA input cables for XA-300 and you would match up output of Sat to correspond to left- right of inputs to xa-300.
If you have a remote for Sat radio you would have to select station on Sat than use second remote to control sound through your Sony sound system.
Maybe they have a Universal remote for both radio's, to do everything these days.
This picture is what I used for my first I-Pod when I changed it they had the different cable for the new I-pod.
