In my to do list box I have a spring for the screen door its been there for maybe 6 years and will probably stay there.
I really do not like to hear a screen door slam like the old farm house porch door did, and if there were kids involved you would hear it allot.
Some people have difficulty just opening the screen door and this would just add to it as they fought to come in or go out.
The thin screen door will flex and a closer would just add to the flexing and who may know where that may lead.
It may work for you but closing the door yourself is allot more quieter and you have control of it in a good wind.

Putting a spring on the screen door is a no brainier.
I installed a wooden bar across the inside of the screen door so when I want to go outside with my hands full I just raise my knee and bump the wooden bar and the screen door opens up for me.
That way I do not have to put everything down to open up the screen door.
Just a thought.

option to spring
Here is the solution I came up with. It uses the 'super magnets' from a computer hard drive and a small piece of angle aluminum readily available from any big box. I made the mount holes on the aluminum angle oversize so I could adjust the gap between the 2 magnets. Having the magnets separated by about the thickness of a poker deck card works great. Screen just has to get within about 1/2 of the magnet and it finishes closing automatically. Unless the grandkids are in the coach, I don't usually bother to flip the latch up; the magnets hold it tight enough.

Just a FYI, if you should happen to close the outside door with the screen door closed and the latch in the down position, it is possible to brake the outside handle, don't ask me how I know
