If you are talking about the ball seal its not that bad. Remove the plastic cover at the bottom of the bowl and you will see a clamp holding the top half to the bottom. Remove that clamp and the hose that goes up the back of the bowl and lift it off. When you put it back together make sure you have the seal centered. If you call the co. they may send you a new seal free of charge other wise thet are about $35.

We replaced the floor seal when we redid the carpet with laminate and it's easy. Just remove the pedestal cover and the four bolts holding the toilet to the floor after disconnecting the water. Remove the toilet and clean up the old seal. Install the new one and reinstall the toilet and your done. I think the seal cost about $20.00 delivered. I have the ordering info if you need it. Just ask.

If its the seal between bowl and base you may only have to tighten the stainless steel clamp. If its the floor seal check the pipe that drops into tank and see if its glued to floor flange, had pipe drop out of flange and cause a mess after two days on trip. You will have to remove screws for flange and twist, it should not turn in flange.
Do not over twist you might break seal in tank.

Took me less than a half hour, but I had the toilet apart once before that and had determined that the seal was bad.

First off...if it's a toilet bowl water leak that is troublesome, I had this leak every other month or so. I tried all the liquids and brushed it etc. Then I found a dental hand tool (stainless steel $2) like a minature spade shape at a flea market. I ran that around the black seal between the ball and seal. I felt resistance and just worked it gently and it resealed beautifully. I think calcium deposits build up and, like tartar on teeth, it has to be chipped off. Anyway, I 've done it several time and my rig is 5 years old with the original seal. These are easily found at bigger flea markets.

just saw your tile back splash, did you use backer board or place on existing wall ? what type of grout did you use ? a poly blend or regular sanded grout ? thinking of doing my kitchen, bath and around toilet and needed some suggestions... we currently have corian counters and it already has a backsplash 3 inches up on wall, what did you use to put on the end where tile stops ? wood trim ? thanks, lisa
