Sealing Roof Joints

Just spoke with Newmar Service guy about the seal where the end caps meet the roof. My coach is bordering on 9 years old and even though it has been stored inside when not in use, it looks like it could do with a reseal on those joints. Have to remove the existing, since new, eternabond tape and clean the area with mild dish detergent and warm water. Then let dry and apply new eternabond tape placed directly over the joint.
Hoping this info will help others.

Don't exactly know when the replacement cycle is up but I climb on to my roof at least once a month and the tape that is there is starting to show signs of lifting in the middle. I use the preventative method of approach so then I will simply replace it before it leaks. I will also check all roof penetrations while up there and redo as necessary. Don't know how people with those fancy new ladder less models will figure out when their roof is 4 weeks away from leaking

Sealing Roof Joints

Something recommended by Eternabond is to make sure the surface is well prepared. Otherwise the bond may fail sooner. I have areas on top where the tape bond failed and looks like the preparation could have been better.
I believe it was on the Eternabond website or one of their videos. The recommended using their cleaner and primer. This is a more foolproof method for the diy crowd. I took their advice and use both the cleaner and primer when applying new tape. Also sealing edges with Dicor prolongs the life and is recommended on the leading edges.
