I've just had to replace the bulb in the passenger side security light for the second time in 8 months. Guess we use it more than I thought.

Anyway, there is a black gasket between the lens and the plate in the fixture. It is now completely destroyed. Do you guys replace that every time you change the bulb? Do you use something else?

I had the same problem while under warranty...Newmar sent me an entire new light fixture...said the gasket itself was not available! Pretty bad plan....I replaced that bulb with a 57 LED replacement with alot longer expected lifespan...

My gaskets were trash-- (the black ones).

The lights were full of debris, bugs and crap.

I bought some gasket paper at Carquest, about 1/32" (.032) and made my own. Its real easy. Just lay a lens on the gasket paper and draw the outer circumference with a sharp pencil. Cut it out with sharp sissors. Then use a pencil compass, or a jar or can close to the inner diameter in size, draw another circle, and cut it out. Mark the holes and punch/drill them out.

As far as bulbs -go here. They are more expensive but should last forever.

Your done for a few bucks with the gasket deal.

Good luck,

I don't think that the gasket is the problem. Moisture, get over it light bulb. This is the real world. The light bulb part number will continue to blow regardless. There are better bulbs found in local auto supply houses. Check it out.

Thanks for the info.
Max, which bulb do I want? I assume a 12 volt, so would that be the 1142?

Any help appreciated.
Bob

Hi Bob,

I got on the site and I think you want the

1156-W30-- It sells for 19.99/(includes shipping)- one bulb. (single contact)

I would call them between 8:30-4:00 Central time and confirm-- 314-972-6200

How many security lights does your rig have? Mine has four. They will probably add some additional shipping charge for more than one unit.

Thanks for the extra work, Max.
Our DSDP4307 has two security (scare) lights, and two docking lights. I never use the docking lights, so the original bulbs still work. Don't know if they are the same, anyway. I'll give them a call to confirm exactly what I need.

Thanks again,
Bob

Bob, If those docking lights are the long oval ones with the rubber perimeter gromet, they will require complete replacement when ever they go. They are a sealed unit that can be found at a truck supply for about $4 or so and the rubbers for under $2. They just pull out, unplug and connect and pop the new one in.
Thought I'ld just let you know should you face that one down the road.

Peter
