If you're going to convert the fireplace to a desk area, then you might want to add more puck lights underneath the overhead cabinets in that section; there are currently none. I'm putting a 92" sofa with a hide-a-bed in that area, so I also added three puck lights over the sofa so I can read better while sitting or laying down.

Sounds like you took full opportunity of the various choices. Was there anything you asked for that they did not agree to?

Happy Travels sounds like fun.
The counters look like quartz, but I think they are Corian. Either way, they look the way I want them to.
Yes to same layout as standard DS. I only want the clean line drawer and door fronts. Not even getting the high gloss, just the color.
They have not given me the prices on this changes yet.
I have asked for simplification of the counter edges to straight lines, but have not heard back yet. Also they said no to installing my own Wolf gas cooktop. (compliance issues)

All in all, Newmar has been great about my wishes and working with me. I have fond no other builder that is so willing.

I was able to use a slot already allocated to the dealer. I actually read that post and that is what spurred me to move things up in time.
Thanks for the heads up!

I got the response from engineering. They allowed everything I requested with the single exception of the Euro cabinet design. I am hoping that the darker color emphasizes the raised panel design. (and I can have this redesigned after delivery)
I added a 2800 sine inverter and 6 AGM batteries.
I ( as recommended) had them do the prewire in the freezer compartment.

The discount I got was close to 20%
Given that I may have gotten the very last slot for a 2015 DSDP I am happy with my deal.

Delivery in JUNE!
I am very excited!
Thank you everyone on this thread and on dozens of other threads that provided a newbie the information he needed to begin this adventure.

Maybe mine was changed out, or 2015 had a cooktop change. On my 2014, the cooktop was a TWO burner "Whale Princess" gas cooktop inset into the counter. It was soooo small that there was no way to cook with anything larger than a couple of 8"-9" pans if you used both burners. By putting the True Conduction unit flat on the counter we have plenty of cooking area.

We only use gas at home, but the often find high altitude cooking is really slow in the RV. We used it for the first time on our last trip. You better be ready to cook when you turn it on. It gets hot fast.

Exactly why we've had two of them, even though we now have the Magna.

Seeker55!
Having recently received our '15 DS 4018 I can rest well knowing you are in for a real treat and experience!! We moved up to the DS after 6 years pulling Airstream Trailers...iconic units, but there is simply no comparison!! All the selections and mods sound great...we ordered an identical model shown at the FMCA Rally in Redmond last year and have been very happy.
To complete the package, I suggest you take a couple day RV driving class in your rig...Just completed ours this week and it was awesome...(currently on our way to Moab, UT) really learned a lot and have much more confidence wheeling this very large expensive vehicle around parking lots and highways. This was a big move from a trailer and even bigger from a tent...reward your self for your purchase, learn some skills and really enjoy your new DS with much more confidence! Just google RV driver education or skills and something will pop up...

In the 2015 there is a three burner and it is not recessed into the counter. I will be changing it out for a two burner Wolf propane cooktop. I lived in Denver for several years and I understand what you are saying about high altitude.
And one of the big advantages in my eyes is how fast they heat up.
Thank you for your advice here.

Thanks Nagorider, I did what you said and I found a good option for getting trained in my own rig. Great idea!

I will be installing a Wolf cook top in the place of the 3 burner
Would love to do this myself. Which model are you planning to install?

Hope you'll start a thread on the topic.
