When driving our new to us rig home from the dealer I found the front end to porpose a bit. In going over all the documetation on the unit and looking at the shocks themselves that they are fairly new. I have Monroe's all around. My question is should I just replace the front shocks or all four? I wanted to upgrade to the Koni's. My thought is that possibly just the front might do the trick. ??????????

Good Morning, Sally and Steve, I never had a good ride with MONROE's (on our cars). Just try first the KONI shocks on the front axle.... saves you some bucks and it might get you a better ride. I'm sure you have a good shop in Michigan to install the KONI's.
One of the sponsors here on IRV2 (Brazel in WA) has the answer or another one of our RV'ers here. Right now I drive a Newmar Bay Star (good ride on F53) and get a 2007 Kountry Star (3910) in spring...If the KS would have a rough ride, I would see the folks at BRAZEL here in WA, since we live only 2 1/2 hours away from that shop.

Enjoy your MH

Check the air pressure in your tires as this could be part of the problem.

Tire pressures are 95# front and 90# rear. This was done in the pre-delivery inspeciton.

Hi Steve,
Consider doing nothing until after:
1. the coach is loaded for travel
2. the coach is weighed. All four corners need to be weighed. Fuel, water are full and all the stuff you carry is loaded.
3. Set the tire pressure based on the loaded weight.
4. Drive the coach to see if the condition remains.
5. If #4 is yes, look at how you can move as much as possible to the front of the coach.
6. Try another test drive.
7. If the condition remains, a good chassis shop is the place to get advice.

STEVE & SALLY: There is a pretty good chance that you have the Monroes because the previous owner complained about excessive bounce and Workhorse replaced the OE (black) shocks with Monroe RV Gas Magnum shocks (yellow). Since that time, WCC has equipped new production chassis with Bilstein shocks (blue top/yellow bottom). "Most" people agree the Bilstein provide a much firmer ride than the Monroes, and "some" say they are too harsh.

I have yet to read where anybody who installed Koni's FSD shocks is not thrilled with them. They are ~$160.00 each, plus installation, so I would opt for just the front and see if they "fix" your problem. IMO, the rear shocks do little to affect the ride.

Enjoy your new MACA, that's a really nice MH. ED
