Shorts in Several of Above-Windshield Running/Clearance Lights

Strangely, when I noticed several of the above-windshield running/
clearance lights out, I found that when I "wiggled" them, any direction, each would come on but go back out when released. It appears obvious that no water has entered either to cause a corrosion problem. Looks like I'm needing to remove the sealant on each and re-do. Anyone know, precisely, what particular sealant Newmar used on my coach...I'd like to replicate?? Thanks!

You called them 'shorts' but a short would blow a fuse. You have an intermittent connection problem or perhaps a bad ground. It could be in the bulb holder or the wiring to the light, but it's not a short. I don't know what caulk Newmar used, you could call and ask them, but don't use silicon caulk, it will fail and subsequent caulk won't adhere to the silicon residue. If Newmar doesn't respond, time spent in the caulking or sealant aisle of your local auto parts or home improvement store will have many choices.

Thanks, Bob...I knew the first response would "scold" me for using the
word "short"...and rightly so. Agreed, your choices, intermittant
connection or bad ground, are the more accurate. As for the sealant I'm
wanting, in order to match the sealant that will remain on those lights
not showing a problem, Newmar surely can offer the answer to that,
at least one would hope.

Change to leds while at it.
Changed all out and recaulked. Lights are much brighter and use less power.

Great explanation Bob - all too often "short" is used for everything.

Thanks, Russ, for you quick and helpful reply. As you say, it's a good
time to switch to the led bulbs.
