Should airbags dump when jacks extended?
My airbags don't dump when the jacks are extended. Called the dealer and they say they should. Anyone else have this issue or maybe my info is wrong? 2017 VTDP 3412

On our HWH leveling system when I hit auto level the air bags dump first and then the leveling system starts. We have a 2016 DS4369.
I can manually dump first too.

Hi Waywards,
If asked to my air bags will dump when the jacks are extended. Don't know how much this helps, have an 05 coach.

Do you have a 'lever' near the driver left side that says 'Auto' and 'Lower', or something similar? Many freightliner chassis' and coaches, like mine, do not 'automatically' dump the air bags just because you deploy the levelers. You can do it either way with this lever.
If you move the lever to 'Lower', then the air bags dump right then as long as you are not in gear.
If you move the lever to 'Auto', which is normally for driving mode, it airs up the bags if the coach is cranked. If you don't move the lever to 'Auto', and put the coach in gear, it WILL air up the bags automatically for driving. It's a safety feature so that you don't drive without the bags, otherwise it's a very harsh ride!
I like our manual system better than those that dump automatically when you level - sometimes I want to dump BEFORE I level, or just dump WITHOUT leveling, such as at a quick overnight in a flat parking lot. It sits the coach down much lower and is more stable that if you don't lower them. It also puts your step(s) lower to the ground.
...though, I suppose you 'could' start to lower the legs, then shut them off after the bags are dumped - without actually touching the ground with the levelers(?)... maybe.

If you're extending your jacks manually, then NO, your air bags won't dump. If you're pushing the Auto Level button, then YES, your bags should dump first.
Does your MANUAL airbag dump switch work? If it does, than you have an issue with the Auto Level switching, not dumping your bags.

With our HWH system, if I use the automatic levelling it starts by dumping the suspensions' airbags before extending the jacks. If I extend the jacks manually, it does not dump the airbags.

I found the autolevelers do dump air albeit very slowly. It requires a few cycles down and up to fully deflate.

If you don't have any switches, levers or buttons (as described above), yours may be like my Damon. Look up the calibration proceedure for your leveler system. On my 2004 Damon Power Gear system, for example, the very last instruction on the auto-leveling calibration says to push Retract All an additional three times if there is an auxiliary system attached. For several years, I didn't know what that was until, one day, it dawned on me. The additional three button pushes told the system that there is a dump feature and turned it on. Now, when I push Auto, it dumps first.
