shower drain..very slow

hope i can get some advice....my 2004 newmar dutch star shower drain is not draining properly.....water starts to build up a bit and then when the shower is over it will drain out slowly...
There is a metal cover...no screws that i can see...just putty surrounding the metal drain cover...

Do you know anything else on the RV that drains slow? Like the sink? If so it could be a vent issue on the roof causing it.

The other thing is you may have something in your trap. You can maybe try to push a wire down to see if it keeps going or gets stuck

The metal cover may just unscrew or pry up? Try getting something firm in the holes on each side of the center and screwing it out. Or look for a small indentation on one side tha may be the pry point? It has to come out, I can't imagine it not.

What I do at least once per year and when ever the shower slows is just stick a hose through the window and put the nozzel on full power and jam it down the shower drain hole. That clears any obstruction.

The same thing happens to me, more frequently. This is because I have a couple of females that tend to cause the slow drain. There are two solutions I've used with great success.
1. A plunger - The girls rarely complain about the drain. I discover it when I take a shower. A plunger is kept just outside the shower door. When the water backs up I use the plunger and it works almost all of the time.
2. Drain O - When the plunger does not work (once or twice a year) I fill the grey tank 1/2 full. Then I follow the directions on the Drain O bottle. After I flush the Drain O down into the tank, I full the tank with water and empty the tank. I've never had a problem with this method, seals or valves.

In theory one should be able to remove the drain cover. However, I have never been able to do this without destroying it.

Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. sell a narrow plastic device designed to pull the hair out of the drain. It's only a couple of $ and you'll be surprised how much hair it can pull out of the drain.

As Gary notes, the covers don't come off without destroying them.

I agree with this suggestion. These little mini snakes work wonders on the inevitable clogged hair that gets into the shower drain.

I had the same problem until I unscrewed the metal plate and took tweezers to pull the hair that had wrapped itself around the small support bars under the cover. After that the drain runs fine. You will be supprised what you pull out of there.

There is a very simple way to remove the Drain Sieve !
You need Two Hooks.
I have a couple of "Button Hooks" which We used in the Old Days to tighten the laces on Our Skates!
You just slide the hook into the slots Turn and gently pull straight up!

Then attack the Hair Build up with whatever You have handy to remove the Goop!

Did ours using it. Its a wonderful tool. I pulled lots of stuff that was caught in the drain. I had to lift the screen to do it.
