Side Cameras
I have a 1995 Newmar with a F54 chassis, 460 engine. I installed a camera system in it but I'm having a hard time figuring out where to tap into power for the trigger wires for the side cameras. I checked the flasher unit but it was power on at all times with key on. Hope this is the proper forum for this question.

Well, I'll start with saying side cameras are a waste of money. Our 2014 came with them and initially we were like WOW! Have never used them.
I think you have to install the trigger wires to the + turn signal wires.

The siders allow an extra glance, that last check, that saved the life of a guy on a scooter in the weenie little blind spot in my mirrors.
Wont be without them! 2nd rig with them.
Mine just happen to be lined up just right, I guess.

Check the wiring of the turn signal switch. When the stalk is turning signal on, is the power steady or blinking? You might have to install a relay to turn on power to the camera, using the 12 v (+) directly from the signals circuit might cause a flicker if the voltage pulses.

Didn't the camera's come with wiring diagrams on how to hook up?
Here is something I found that you maybe able to use if you can find your set up.
May need some type of controller like this.

I think it has to do with how the mirrors are installed. No blind spots in ours with the lower mirror. That's the only mirror I use unless I want to see who is behind me, then the upper mirror comes into play.
I tell you, there are some bikers out there that do not belong on two wheels. I don't know how many times I've almost killed one especially when we lived down in FL. I've been riding bikes since before I started walking and one thing I know is that you can't trust anyone even if they are staring straight at you....they'll still pull out. I've seen too many idiots cruising next to big rig blind spots without a clue.

We have side cameras and I think they are great! I agree that after having them I would never be able to go back to just a mirror.

I agree, side camera aren't a necessary but a quick glance for safety may see that unexpected vehicle that both mirrors may miss on that side for lane changes. For the extra $75.00 I think it was well worth it. Besides it's COOL!

Side Camera
I have a question for the forum on this topic. I have a 2007 Class C Jayco. If I get 45 degrees to traffic I can't see oncoming traffic on either the passenger side or the driver's side depending upon which way I am turning. Because of this I was hit from the rear because I had to stop as I was taking an exit.
Looking for ideas on how to solve this problem. Alternatives considering,
1) Add mirror mounted cameras on both mirrors. I just ordered a replacement backup camera and monitor that has one extra input available. Obviously, I could get one to work but it would only be for one side or I'd have to add and A/B switch to switch between left and right.
2) Add some mirrors below or above the standard mirror (that has a stickon blindspot mirror). If I added the mirror below the standard mirror I could direct it such that it might help.
What are your thoughts? I've alway found this forum to be very helpful. Thanks, Larry

I have a similar problem. I use Fresnel lenses on both sides. One above and forward of the driver's position, and one above and forward of the co-pilot. Solves the problem for me.

Rich, Thanks for your quick response. I don't recognize the Fresnel lens. I assume it is a convex mirror. Would you have a picture you can share? I would like to see how you solved the problem. Thanks, Larry

side cameras
Rich and 007 thanks for clearing this up for me. Now that I see it I remember that I had one on a 19foot skamper my that I had in the 70's. It had a nice rear window. I don't have one on my Jayco. The problem that I am trying to solve is how to see oncoming traffic if I make the mistake of getting 45 degrees to traffic. I can't see around the body of the mh. Not even sure if cameras or mirrors would help. Anyone else have this problem? How did you solve it. Co now I just try to ensure the I get perpendicular to the road. Some roads don't allow this. Just figured someone else must have this problem. Thanks guys.
