The three set screws (or two on some models) don't contact the ball but rather contact the semicircular clips which press against the ball. The ball surface has a rough finish to help it stay put but over time they smooth out due to vibration which allows the mirror to slip.

Yesterday I tried another trick. I removed the mirrors and applied 1 layer of electrical tape around the circumference of the balls, then reinstalled. Hopefully the friction between the balls and clips with the tape between will be enough to keep the mirrors in place. I am on the road again today and will post tonight the results.

Willie, did you ever get any resolution to your mirror problems? I need to secure mine, but was taking the lazy route, hoping you came up with the answer.

I had the same problem with vertically challenged mirrors on my 2014 Ventana 4037. Couldn't get the passenger side tight enough. I called Ramco and they sent me at no charge replacement clam shells. It's been three months and no problems.

Slabman: The electrical tape idea helped but did not completely secure the mirrors. So as a last resort I straightened them one more time and secured the set screws with green locktite. I did not remove the electrical tape. Ramco did not recommend locktite but on the last leg of our trip this did seem to do the trick. I may contact Ramco and order replacement clam shells. Our clam shells are metal and the inside surface is smooth. The surface of the balls are knurled but worn smooth where they contact the clam shells. There is very little surface area that actually secures the mirrors. Perhaps the newer clam shells will be a better design.
