If your coach should need new sidewalls, Newmar's policy on sidewall replacement is;

If your coach had plywood backed sidewalls, they will be replaced with same.

If your coach had CTEC C200 sidewalls they will be replaced with same.

There will be no upgrade from plywood to CTEC.

I spoke with Mark from Crane/Noble, the sidewall supplier, and learned that the CTEC sidewall is not the best product available. There are other sidewall compositions available, however they are cost prohibitive and not used in the RV industry.

Well they started tearing the walls off our 2005 Mountain Aire 4304. I will try to keep everyone posted with how the tear down goes,and most important how it all goes back together.

Two other things I will add about this process:

First if you want to change your coach color you may change it, as long as it was from same year.

Second if you want anything added or changed; like a wire run, exterior lights moved/added, dryer vent changed, awnings left off, what ever now is the time to do it.

Dirk,
Is there a simple explanation of the difference in two? If it's been explained before I apologize.

The CTEC sidewall is all man made materials and is smoother than the plywood backed side walls.

More expensive, too.

Does anyone know if 2006 models were affected? So far, my sidewalls look just like they did upon delivery. What does the defect look like?

That is completely fair. A question is if you wanted to pay the additional material cost out of pocket to upgrade to CTEC would Newmar do it? Something to consider.

I just had my sidewalls replaced by Winnebago. I don't know which product they used, but the new walls are far superior in looks at least, than the originals.

The issue as I understand it was with substandard luan... The knots were showing through the sidewalls.

If this is in fact corrected, and a suitable replacement material has been located then there's the chance of success.
