I just recieved a new sleep number bed for my 2007 Mountain Air. Does anyone have suggestions how to install this? I need to put the pump under the platform....how did you do this and how did you route the air lines?

I installed the air pump under the platform as you are proposing. You should have room under the platform despite the difference in models (I have a gas puller with a queen bed).

I removed the platform (on our coach it was held with 4 screws and the hinge) figured out where to put the pump and routed the air lines through two holes I drilled (actually holesawed, as they were over 1" in diameter) in the platform.

One thing to remember is to remove the gas shocks on the part of the platform that raises before you remove the hinge so you can remove the fixed part of the platform. I ended up relocating the hinges slightly after the screws tore out of the holes from the force of the gas shocks.

Newmar already provided outlets for the nightstand, I drilled another hole for the plug in the side of the platform and plugged it into one of those outlets.

Thanks Stewart...removing the platform makes sense. I looked today and that will be the easiest way to get the holes drilled and the pump positioned.

I've never slept on a Sleep Number....hope I made the right choice. Getting a mattress to fit the 72" x 80" king platform doesn't offer a lot of choices...

I can't help you with the installation, but if you're new to RV "Sleep numbering", a friend's experience is worth reporting. He likes a very firm mattress and uses a fairly high number. After going over a 9000' mountain pass, he was surprised to find his side had gone bang. The split was too big to fix, so they had to replace the whole thing.

If you're going in the mountains, let some of the air out first.

When I was at Boeing, I often went on customer acceptance flights on new airplanes. On my first trip, I was sitting just aft of the galley where the flight lunches were stacked. As we did the test to make sure the oxygen masks would deploy properly, I heard a series of popping noises from the galley as the cabin altitude went to about 14,000 feet. It turned out to be the potato chip bags in the lunches bursting becuase of the low pressure in the airplane.
