We have a 2005 Newmar Scottsdale, and the roadside slide is setting crooked. The rear of the slide when closed is still protruding about 1-2 inches. The front of the slide is closed completely. Is there an adjustment on these that I could do, or is it take it back to the shop time? When fully opened, it still remains crooked, so I am at a loss. Hope you can help.

This sounds like the sprocket drive jumped one
pin on one side.
Unless you are very mechanically inclined,go to the dealer or factory.
If you work on it yourself, be sure to pull the fuse for the slides.

sig has the right answer... This is not a general maintenance type of adjustment.

Thank you for your advice. I called Mister RV aka the RV Doctor who will be making a house call on Tuesday. I am hoping that this is something he can repair. If not, it is a long way to the nearest Newmar Service Dealer.

Hey Buckeyes
Try This!!!

This is from Dale re Oemtech

I got the following from Richard Bremen. He asked Newmar the same question.

quote:
Locate the driveshaft under the slide room in the baggage compartments.
Follow the shaft from the cogs that drive the room to a cup, trans torque
bushing. Those are the side to side adjustment points. With the room
approximately half way out take a measurement on each side of the room from
the same point on the sidewall to the same point on the slide room exterior
wall. Loosen one bushing 3 turns using a 1 1/2 inch wrench and tap on the
cup part with a hammer to loosen the wedge inside. Using a pipe wrench move
the side of the room (as needed) to make both sides even. Tighten the nut to
100 ft lb (tight) while holding the shaft with the pipe wrench.
If you need to call for assistance, Mon-Fri 7:30 am to 4:00 pm EST
1-800-731-8300.

This should do it
Rick

I believe the correct torque is 150 ft/lbs for those TransTorque bushings and is necessary to ensure they do not slip. A 1.5" crows foot on a 1/2" drive breaker bar is the right tool.

Typically, the general maintenance toolbox will not have any of these tools or the inclination to tighten things to 150 ft/lbs.

Hi Gene,
I have been there and done what you are about to do. The previously posted information is correct. An additional piece of information is when you get both sides even and the friction clutch (I call it a friction clutch) retightened; if the slide returns to its' out of alighment position, the problem might be the manual locking arm on the side that remains out too far.

This happened to me. I could not see the problem, but removing the manual locking are allowed the slide to close correctly. Mark the manual locking arm before you take it off. Mine could only be reinstalled one way.

Latitude's instructions work. We repaired my friends 2005 Mountain Aire with the same slide. Run it in and out a few times and adjust as needed. We purchased a $30 1 1/2 in open ended wrench from NAPA then used a pipe wrench for the shaft. Worked great.

Thanks for your advice. I got to close within 3/8 inch. That seems to be the best I can do. I think it seals fine, just worried now that the slide may work itself out while traveling.
