My street side slides have been strange from the beginning...on the front one today...I had to press the switch THREE times before it would close. I have had similar problems with that slide where it will start to close and then quit. The lady today said her thing about the lockarms and then NOTHING...three times...I started to think I would be stranded..on the bedroom slide, the lockarms get confused and will OPEN when the slide is done opening...this has happened quite a few times...I have to pretend I am closing the slide, then the arms close and i let go of the switch.
Is this a dealer thing or maybe something I can fix without driving hundreds of miles??

I have the same (intermittent) issue on the driver's side front slide. I've had it checked by two different dealers. Both times they said it was fixed, only to have the same issue return at a later time. One of the dealers said it may be a bad proximity switch...when opening, it gets confused and 'thinks' it's closing. I'm scheduled for a factory appointment in April, and this issue is on the list. Hopefully they can figure it out.

If you get yours figured out first, post it and let us know.

that's doubtful...but wonder what the fix is...it's so hard to duplicate...they seem to get squirrelly whenever I start thinking...."Gee////this would be a bad place for a slide to get stuck out!"

Hi! Why don't you try posting your problem on the Newmar Yahoo Group. I have seen posts about this in the past over there. Brent who is a tech will probably help you. Paul

Have you backed off the control panel to see if you have a loose common ground wire or spade clip to the control switch in back of the panel.
A poor ground which is common to all, operating switch, auto lock switch etc, etc.
Multible ground leads in twisty to one ground supply, some times twisty not tight enough.
If you do check the back side check all the wire nuts to prevent other problems in future.

thanks 007!...pretty frustrating with no cure yet...the dealer said it was 'working fine', just like my fridge whos fans did not even work when directly connected to a battery, and a few other issues that were declared 'fine'. Thats why I go to a local RV repair shop for everything I can...they actually do much better work than my dealer...Leisure Tyme

Maybe you need a run to Newmar factory with Bob.

Is the slide mechanism provided by an OEM? If so they could troubleshoot this over the phone. If Newmar made the mechanism they should be able to troubleshoot it over the phone. Proximity sensors are to be highly suspected. They can leak and take in water which freezes and make them inoperable. They can also be located too far apart from the magnet and not work. I would do a little DIY on this.
