I'm sorry to keep asking questions about my slide outs but, when I bought the motorhome the VCR/DVD that comes with the operators manual is missing. I understand that in that video it is suppose to tell you how to use the slide lock tool that is behind the drivers seat. Im feel like a dummy but, I just cant figure out how that tool helps lock the slide into place. Can someone please explain to me how to use this tool to lock the slides bars. I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

Hi Mike,
With my tool:
To lock the slide:
1. The end with the red handle stays in your hand.
2. The other end hooks over the slide lock anywhere between the center of the lock and the wall of the coach.
3. The center bar (the metal bar at a right angle to the main part of the tool) is placed under the bottom of the center of the lock.
4. Raise the red handle until the lock straightens out.
To unlock the slide:
The above mentioned steps 1 and 2 are the same.
3. The center bar on the tool is placed above the center of the slide lock.
4. Lower the red handle until the slide lock unlocks.
One may need to place a second hand along side of the tool to keep it on the slide lock until pressure is placed on the slide lock.

Mike - I caught the last post you made... not sure what model and year you are speaking about but on my 2009 Canyon Star, you just push the bar up in the middle as it is hinged and it locks. To release just push down in the middle. However, that being said I would not want to forget to release it prior to extending slide it puts up quite a fight which ends with a bang. Hope this helps...

The end opposite the red handle has the two hooks on it. If your going to release the bar as Gary said put the 90* short bar under the locking latch. Center of bar. Hooked with top hook on bar near wall.
If you want to lock bar that short 90* bar will be on top of locking latch and you push down with rear bottom hook hooked around bar.
Its best to try it on the living room slide where you can see operation before trying in bedroom where it more difficult.
You should not be sorry because maybe we have some on lookers that are afraid to post a question and we are helping them out also, so keep them coming you will enjoy your motor home better knowing all about it.

And when you get tired of looking for the tool, which we keep under the bed, you just reach up and pull the lock bars down, keeping your hand away for the middle pivot point... big pinch. For the back you open the back slide-out window and screen and pull down or push up (I learned all that from watching the service mgr at my RV shop).

I'm thankful the locks on my CS can be actuated by hand rather than needing that confounded tool. The shape of that thing defies storage in any practical manner so it is kept in one of my basement compartments should the need ever arise. I'm sure if I threw it away though I would need it.
