Slide motor bracket replacement

Our 2015 Dutch Star has broken the bracket on the driver side rear slide. We ordered a new bracket from Newmar but could use some advise if anyone else has had this problem. Newmar said we should turn down the amps when we replace this bracket. They said to adjust the slide by turning an electrical pot down all the way then 1/16 th of a turn at a time until the slide is in or out all the way. Has anyone adjusted this pot?

Thanks for your help!

Have you found the potentiometer on the controller? It will likely need a small pocket screwdriver to adjust.

This link will have a thread very long about every broken bracket you may run into in your coach and many more links for your coach.
This link will have info about all your slide systems, controls with the pots for adjusting motor torque and spec's for your slide operation..

Had the same problem on my 2015 DS Kitchen slide. I had a bracket fabricated at a welding shop, much more robust than anything that Newmar put in.

My coach is older and had a chain drive on the passenger side slide out. After reading the many stories, I found my bracket to be loose. I tighten according to Newmar advisors and thought the problem to be fixed...until I heard a loud bang when closing...only to find my chain had broken. I was able to adjust the slide manually, and then installed a new chain. Chalk another successful "Newmar repair event".

I have an 05 Essex with Intellitec controllers ... I use a wooden chopstick with 1 end sharpened into a screwdriver for pot adjustments. I leave the chopstick at the controller(s) by weaving it thru the wiring.
