Slide out making a loud squeaking noise. I have a 2007 bay star, when I move the slides outs in or out. There is a loud squeaking noise. Does anyone know if they need to be greased?
Thanks for your help.

Welcome hungry bear to the Newmar forum & irv2.
Does the slide sound like a metal type sound or squeaking sound?
Here is a PDF on operation of your different slides.
The slide hardware does not need lube but with someone operating the slide control switch you can observe the slide operation outside to make sure there is no binding in rails as sprocket wheels engage the holes in rail.
If your slide is out of line it could be causing the noise you hear.
There are double nuts on threaded rods that should be locked tight if some are loose slide will not stop correctly.
The only thing that would require a lube is the slide rubber gaskets that slide on the slide box. Talcum in a sock battered along the seal will make it slippery for seal to slide on walls of slide. Also waxing the slide walls help for slipper age.
There is more info on slides & control units in the Quick Tips Link.

After you check operation let us know the results.

hungry bear:
My large living room slide has made all kinds of loud noises ever since I bought it new. I've had Newmar techs check it out three times at different rallys and all say it's fine and normal.

Same here, lots of noise but all has worked OK for 12 years.

You will have normal noise as it travels up or drops on ramp and if your have locking bars when they drop.
Locking bar area does have foam bumpers that may be missing if real loud.
Its a slow but sure operation of Newmar slides for years.

Thaks for all your help. I'll double check and make sure every thing is lined up and if so I'll just put up with the noise.
