So what is involved with timing the motor and controller?
I get that these little motors can cause some damage if they push or pull too far..the mechanical part of the install doesn’t scare me, that does.

My bedroom controller is a C-Storm Electronics Rev B I wouldn't think all have the same procedure. To put in learn mode remove the tiny white jumper (bottom right corner). The readout should change from 00 to LL. Go inside & extend/retract/extend or retract/extend/retract makes no difference. Each time holding finger on button for a few seconds after slide stops. Replace jumper & that's it.
