We have a 2006 newmar that the front slide wont extend out. when we push the button the lady says the slideout is unlocking but locks are about half way open and nothing moves locks nor slide.
where do i start > ihave checked fuses and all seem well i even tried switching the wiring from the back slide to the slide out controller for the front slide and it worked fine so its something in the slide.
has anyone had experience with this

Hi, I have had a intermittent problem where the lock arms unlock but the slide does not move. I understand that there is some sort of switch by the lock arm that gets moisture in it. I tap on the front lock arm and that usually gets the slide to move out. Gary

Hi ddiamondruby,
If the locks are not opening all the way the slide will not move. Is the problem with both locks or just one lock?

Is the ignition sw OFF? The slides are disabled if the ignition is in the ON position...that being said, do you have Itellitec controllers? They have a website to download the manual for your controller. I have had similiar issues with our slide. There is a microswitch on the slide rail in the compartment near the motor (follow the wires) if this switch doesn't activate when the slide goes in the controller doesn't "realize" the slide is in so the controller doesn't know and get the controller ready to be able to send the slide back out. The locks operate similiarly...when they are retracting there is a microswitch that gets activated when they are fully retracted again telling the controller and the controller then activates the slide motor. If the locks don't fully retract then the controller will not activate the next operatiion (moving the slide). When the slide reaches the end of it's travel the slide motor works harder and the amperage goes up, the controller then senses this stops the slide. When the slide goes in, it has to activate the switch in the compartment near the motor when it gets retracted and the controller switches state and sends power to the slide lock arms which operate the same way. The slide may come in and stop but the lock arms won't activate...the microswitch near the motor has not been activated. The controller also has a built in "safety" if it senses too much amperage draw (something is binding or caught somewhere it shouldn't be) it will stop...ie: if the slide is opening or closing and something is causing the slide or the locks to jamn...you have to clear or correct the cause before the operation can resume or the contoller thinks the slide is all the way in or out due to the high amperage draw and won't do anything...except activate the voice part of the controller. Also if the batteries are waek this may cause a higher amperage draw and the controller will stop or cause the fuses to blow...this happens even if the coach is plugged in to shore power, the motors need the extra "reserve" power of the batteries to operate correctly. Hope this helps...try to get the controller manual online...it is very helpful.
