Slide out problems

My husband and I have a 2005 Newmar Northern Star. We have been parked in a seasonal site since the end of May, so for about 6-7 weeks. Yesterday we brought in our passenger side slide out and after when we tried to put it back out, it wouldn't move.

The locking flapper is in the closed position (which I guess it should be while the slide is out) and will not open to lock the slider in place. The switch goes through the normal "the lock arms are unlocking, please be sure that .... blah blah blah"

You can hear what sounds like a motor going for about the length of time it takes the slide to move in or out, but it doesn't move. I am not sure if it is because the locking flapper isn't moving (either out or in), or if something else is wrong.

The slide has been out, and it has been pretty rainy lately, and I don't know if it has something to do with that. I am sure the locking flapper was in the closed position while the slide was out.

Well welcome to the forum, Dawn & Alex.
You have company your the third or forth owner of a Northern Star on forum the pass year.

You answered your question the slide being out has collected water or moisture on a Actuator in the switch box for your slide lock and the contacts can become corroded or dirty and need to be cleaned up or the Actuator replaced.
What you can do is gently tap the box and maybe the contact will lose the rust or make enough contact to activate the rest of circuit for slide to move.
Slide lock problem will not allow the slide to move as you have found out.
A good contact spray cleaner may clean up the contacts also and Newmar has the rubber seals that have been improved they say to keep out the moisture from entering.
I will give you links out of QT's # 3 for the problem and there are slide spec's in QT's 1 & 2 plus lock information.
