I can park my MH on the side of my house (just barely). Yesterday I opened up my slide and had my wife watch so it would not hit the house next door. I pushed the button and heard the nice lady warn me to move the seat and remove any objects and I had 5 seconds to do so. The slide started going out and got to about 1 inch from being completely out when my wife told me to stop. So I went out and looked and I was about 6 inches from hitting the house next door. So I went in and hit the button again Expecting it to retract but to my surprise it kept going OUT.

It raised the question if I was in a camp site and I was opening the slide and it came close to hitting a tree and I had to retract it. How would I do that? Is there something I can do to stop the outward motion of the slide and reverse it? So I could move my MH over.......

As you can tell I didn't get a Coach Manuel when I bought my MH. (I bought it used)

Thanks again Lee (hope you don't get tired of me asking questions)

Lee--

I think the slide has to go all the way out,
and hit a switch contact before it'll retract.

There may be something you could do at the slide controller itself, to get it to reverse
in place ie.--swap wires, hit a reset switch,
something. You need to know that many Newmar
Owners, who have visited the Plant in Indiana,
have been amazed to see the workers there moving
the Coaches around, with the slides out.

On edit: Brought Coach home from storage today.
First thing I did, was to fool with the slides.
Yep--one push, out she goes, push #2, she stops,
push #3 she goes back in...so there you have it.

Your slide relay is not working correctly. Pushing the button should do this; 1 push - start out. 2nd push - stop, 3rd push - retract, 4th push - stop, etc.
Try it again. You may have made multiple contacts by pressing to lightly. Push the button once firmly and then again. It will probably work correctly. This can happen more frequently if the switch contacts become dirty or burned.

Lee, the slide should have retracted, each time you hit the slide-out switch it reverses from the previous movement, in other words if it was extending and you let off the switch then the next time you hit the switch the slide should be retracting and vise versa. There possibly is a problem with your slide-out room controller. The simple fix is to find your slide-out controller and pull the electrical connections out wait 30 seconds and reconnect controller the controller should then reset itself. Ed.S

That's how ours works Edmund. LeeB's slide should work the same way. The method of reset you suggest should get him to where he needs to be with the slide. The buttons in our new coach are "touchy". If you don't keep constant pressure on them, they will act a little funny and reverse action very easily.

Rather than going to the trouble of disconnecting the switch wires, it might work just turning off the house power on the panel for a minute or so. It should accomplish the same.

Thanks I will give every suggestion a shot this weekend...

Edmund; When you say "pull the electrial connections" do you mean right there at the panel? So your saying I would have to take the panel off.. Correct? Which I have no problem trying..

Thaks for the inputs. Lee

There should be a plug on your controller just remove plug DON'T get inside of controller, the control maybe under your sink area in cabinet next to door outside. Button should work as everyone has said every time you push button a reverse action.
Never tried but if slide hits wall or tree outside the slide should stop control senses the wall when it hits inside wall of coach there is a pot adjustment to control pressure when slide hits object or wall inside or outside wall coming in. "007"
