Today I had the engine running. I put the full slide in, no problem. Went to the rear and this slide would not respond. trying it several times , no luck. I get ready to call Newmar. while looking for thier Phone # I shut the engine off. Then I think ( You don't suppose the engine has to be off for the slides to work?) But trying the rear slide, now it works.. If the engine has to be off to operate the slides, why did the front slide work with engine running, and the rear side worked only after shutting the engine down/ Any light you could shed on this would be appreciated...Vacman

Engine on (supposed) = no slides. A safety thing when you are cruising down the road. Sounds like a wiring boo-boo to me. Someone grabbed the wrong signal wire when they wired the front slides. Camp Newmar will certainly set that straight if you wanted them too.

Sounds like a new RV movie main slide in and bedroom slide out. You have a DP and it may be set up different but I would say both slides should come in off your batteries. Why your large slide will come in with engine running, do not know, would think engine wouldn't start with slides out.
Someone with a DS will have the answer I'm sure.

The engine will start with slide in or out, no difference. The slide *power* is supposed to be disabled when the key is "on" i.e. engine running, so you can't open a slide going down the road.

What RV Dude said is our experience. Both our slides do not operate with the key on. And yes, I almost drove away once with the bedroom slide out.
