Slide rollers

Anybody know who makes the slide rollers for Newmar? Would be easier to order direct than trying to get one thru a dealer(especially since we are traveling).

My understanding is that Newmar won't sell directly to you unless you are in Nappanee. You have to go through a dealer.

Yes that is why we normally get the parts from the part manufacturer. Its a REAL pain to try to got thru a dealer, then Newmar(my biggest complaint of owning a Newmar coach).

It's not just a pain, it's DOUBLE the price through a dealer. Sheese. Get it direct from the part manufacturer and typically it's half of the Newmar Factory Parts price. So, that makes it one forth the price of going through a dealer. I try to buy from the original part manufacturer every time I can.

Don't know who makes the rollers though...

Just to add on to the roller thread.

Is there a solution to the roller and/or "grease" marks on the carpet when the slide is extended or should we just get accustomed to it?

We had a grease problem with our new 2008 Kountry Aire, plus the rollers were abraiding the carpet when we retracted and extended our main living room slide out. The grease and abraisions were so significant that our dealer replaced the carpet before we purchased the unit, and on our maiden voyage from NY to MT in May it was practically unusable due to the continued grease and abraisions on the carpet.

Fortunately, we were able to stop in Elkhart while en route to MT and the factory service was able to fit us in for a day.

They found that the wrong type of rollers had been installed on our main slide out (smaller diameter rollers, with greased bearings on each end, that are intended for slide outs rolling over ceramic tile, rather than larger rollers, without these greased bearings, that are intended to be used over carpet.)

If you are getting grease on your carpet, maybe you have the wrong type of rollers installed on your slide out(s). The factory service guy told us that there should not be grease marks when the right type of rollers are used - our dealer told us the same thing but didn't correct the problem.

We use clear plastic car floor mats (purchased at Walmart) to protect against roller marks. They have "spikes" on the back side to keep them in place on the carpet when the rollers go over them.

How did you push the slide up in order to take the roller off/on?

Laid a 2X4 on the floor for a fulcrum and put another 2X4 on top crosswise sliding it just underneath the slide. Pushed down and the slide went up the necessary amount to take the pressure off the roller. Removed the roller using a right angle screwdriver.

Another option is to put a wood wedge under the slide and bring in the slide just far enough so that it rides up the wedge to allow access to remove the roller(takes two people vs the above can be done by one).
