Slide stopping

At times our street slide will come in about six inches and stop the controller will not go above 5 amps and it needs at least 15 amps to raise up and then back to 5 amps. You can pull the learning tab on the C Storm controller or give the slide a slight push and it starts working again. The controller has been sent back to C Storm and recalibrated worked for a while. We were at the factory in April and controller was replaced they ran the slide about 35 times no problem left on Friday and Saturday stopped again worked for about a month and has done it again 3 times. Newmar and C Storm are at a lost but they will warranty it until we are satisfied so it's back to Camp Newmar on August 22. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Switt, same problem here. I did find one time when I pulled the jumper nothing happened on the unit the jumper was on, but the unit next to it went into learning mode. Only happened once, so far. Amazingly the slide worked and cleared the L1 on the controller that was not supposed to be connected to it. I am having Newmar verify the wiring was not mixed up during the rally in September. You might have them check yours also. With my recent custom drive issue I am wondering if there is not a loose ground somewhere in the system.

Mark, the plug for the controllers might be reversed you can switch them and see if that solves the problem. I'll have a meeting with engineering next month to try and work things out I will advise you of the results. Try giving the slide a slight push when it starts in takes two people. See you in Pueblo in September.
Safe travels

Newmar called today. Said the controller manufactor thinks the controller needs to be set to higher torque. Sending me a new controller to install. On the wiring, the harnesses are electronically isolated. If you switch them they just controll a different slide. Reshorting a ground on one should not effect the other, unless they have a common wire which according to Newmar they do not.

My thought is they switched the resisitor wires attaching the resistor on one slide to the wrong wiring harness. They are the same color (bad engineering practice) and are right next to each other (worst engineering practice). One possible solution, but may just be a common ground issue. Did Newmar have you go to a higher amp controller. Think I remember you mentioning that.

Mark,
C Storm set the amps up when I sent the controller back to them worked about 20 times and had to be relearned.

Sounds like they are just following the same path with me. According to Newmar the next step is to go to another brand of controller that allows for user adjustment.

I plan to have Newmar prove to me at the rally that they did not mis-wire the cables. Mine stops going out so the amp load should not be an issue. And the fact that it is intermittent tells me this "amp" fix is like doing intricate carving with a sledge hammer

Will let you know if I find a solution.

We have had the same problem 3 times on our front passenger slide. I would appreciate continued posts or private messages if you get any resolution. Any suggestions on how to inform Newmar about this is appreciated as well. We took it in twice for the issue and got the standard "we can't duplicate the issue so can't diagnose it". We come off warranty in a month and will take it in one more time so it will now be noted 3 times within the warranty period. Thanks for all you help and suggestions.
