Slideout Technology?
Hi- Considering downsizing to a smaller Class A gas unit and am considering the 2017 or 2018 Newmar Bay Star 3009 or 3113 . Can someone please tell me who provides the technology for the slides on these particular units? After a bad experience I'm absolutely going to avoid anything with a Lippert slide drive system (Schwintech or Power Gear). Both stink despite manufacturers claiming Power Gear was a "ungrade fix" to Schwintech.
Do these Newmar models use the proven Newmar system or HWH? Please say they don't use Lippert Thanks!!
PS - same goes for the leveling system. Never again will I buy a unit with Lippert.

Newmar uses their own system on most rigs and HWH on the "more floor" models.
We had two DSDP's and only had trouble with the long slide in the '02. I finally traced it to a poor warranty repair (not done by Newmar).

Welcome to the forum.
Here is a link to TSB info for any coach you maybe interested in, will have brochure, owners guide and all the links below in my signature will have answers for your to be Newmar.
QT's 1& 2 will have all slide information and I wrote this thread for the slides in the gas coach's.
You will have slide systems that were developed by Newmar from the early 90's.
Good luck in your quest for a Newmar.

As above, on the Baystar line(s) the workings are Newmar designed and built. They are sturdy stuff. Just be sure to get into a routine to check the status of the slide locks before you try to extend them.
The levelers are from Equalizer Systems. I’ve had no issues with them.

Slides, definitely Newmar design. Currently only Dutch Star and above use the HWH.
Jacks are another story, Lippert has bought up pretty much every jack vendor except HWH, and Newmar changes jack vendors fairly regularly. Our coach has the Atwood electric jacks, which broke regularly until we got them replaced with an upgraded version. Lippert bought these from Atwood recently. If you search this forum you may be able to find out, or you can call customer service, they may be able to tell you what brand they're using now.

Completely agree.
At least with the right tools and a little strength the slide out can be adjusted without a trip to the dealer. Ask me how I know!

Fun Fact: Mahlon Miller, founder of Newmar Corp., invented the slide out. Their slide out mechanism and flat floor slide out design is one of the biggest reason I bought my Bay Star Sport.
