Hi Jarhead1 ,
You and me both. I have not been able to get the drain grate off/out. I have a plunger now that I use to clear the drain. On occasion I use the following procedure: - fill the grey tank to 3/4
- pour in the prescribed amount of Liquid Draino
- wait the prescribed amount of time
- follow the Draino instructions to flush out the Liquid Draino from the drain.
- fill the grey tank until full
- empty the grey tank
- put a couple of gallons of water in the grey tank
- use normally
While all three females deny letting hair down the drain, the only time I need to use the Draino procedure is when all three are traveling in the coach. Most of the time I use the plunger.
If the macerator ever gets clogged with hair, that's when I will need to do something, but I do not know what.

Since the grate is not (easily) removable, I too use a plunger and that does the job.

I know its a waste of water but most gray tanks will backup into shower so anything in trap will hit the grate, if its hair you can than hook the hair out with a wire hook.
Some plumbers drain products will eat up the hair but it sure smells.
I have to many woman traveling with me and have had some slow drains.
I also have a air vent plate on face of shower near floor that the trap can be access if need be.

I'm not sure how your Shower is equipped, but our Fleetwood has a small plate @ the very bottom of the Shower Base below the Glass door. It is attached with four small screws, giving access to the drain connection once removed. JMHO, give it a try,

My shower was slowing down and I noticed that there's a square slot in the center of the drain. I used a large screwdriver and wiggle the drain cover back and forth. Some without alot of effort it came out. I was amazed at what was under it. after 10 minutes of cleaning, the drain was flowing again. Dave

Try a wire hanger, and leave the end you put in the drain with a small hook on the end. This will catch any hair which is blocking the drain. It also will flex in the drain and follow the curve.

I had some blockage from construction debris. Used a small shop vac to suck out the drain line - worked great!
