Need suggestions on how to remedy the slow draining sink in my wifes vanity area. Reluctant to use any chemicals as I don't know if that would damage plumbing.
Thanks

You should be able to dis-assemble the P-Trap from the sink drain and clean them manually if you are reluctant to use chemicals, which is what I would do also. They are normally screwed in, not glued.

Hi Ron,
I have successfully used Drano that was safe for plastic pipes. I left the Drano overnight and it cleared the clog. You might want to check your sink vent while your at it.

A clog or possibly the stopper mechanism has gotten out of adjustment and is not opening fully anymore.
The plumbing is all PVC schedule 40 and the fittings are the same as in stix-n-brix. Any plastic safe drain opener is RV safe too.
These long, skinny brushes are handy if you are anti-chemical or anti-tools.

Keep a zip strip on hand. They are a plastic strip with teeth on it. Put it all the way down the drain and pull back. Most likely hair and some crud buildup. Available most anywhere. Avoid chemicals if possible.

Hi Ronnie,
For me, I do what DBeauchamp posted. Unscrew the "P" trap, dump the crud and reassemble. 30 minutes tops and most of that is spent clearing out the space under the sink and getting a bucket to put the crud in.

Thanks to all. I'm hesitant to disassemble as most everything leaks after I do plumbing :-) I'll disassemble the stopper mechanism and use a brush initially. If that doesn't work I'll soon be asking for help on how to stop a leak. LOL

I used a small plunger made for sinks. Worked well on the shower too.

Pulled the stopper mechanism and removed "stuff". Sink now drains properly. More hair in the stuff than I have on my head :-)
Thanks again folks!

Nothing needs to be taken apart.
