Now that i'm on the road and not using shore water, just noticing how long it takes to fill the water tank. It's 100 gal. and it may take 30 minutes to fill. Could there be some blockage that makes it fill so slow?? any suggestions appreciated..Yes i have the water pump off and the knob turned to open... thanks

Check a couple of non-technical things first: 1. Is your water source "open" or "restricted"-that is, at the hose bib or hose end, is there a restrictor (those things that fit inside the opening that "save water" flow?; 2. At your "water board" control, is your control pointed to "city water".

30 Mins (or more) is what I experience when filling the tank. However, this brings up a question I have been wondering about.

When filling the water tank from city water, which has a pressure of 90-100lbs, I can hear a "thunk" from the water connection on the coach water panel, when turning on the city water faucet. The water does not stop flowing into the tank, but may not flow as freely as when I slowly, and partially open the city water faucet.

I can avoid the "thunk" by partially opening the city water faucet.

This makes me think that there is a pressure limiter in the coach water inlet piping which is making the "thunk". I keep thinking I should ask someone about this, but never remember... so maybe I will get the answer here, and maybe that will be your answer also.

QUESTION: Does Newmar standard installation include a pressure limiter on the city water connection?

30 minutes doesn't seem that bad to me. I have 90 gal and I'm close to that.

I have never timed mine but it does take a long time to fill so 30 minutes does not seem that unreasonable, there is not likely anything wrong with your system. I don't believe Newmar has an internal pressure restrictor however the city water inlet does have a label stating that fill pressures should not exceed 60 psi, many owners including myself use a pressure restrictor on the inlet to prevent potential damage caused by overpressure.

I think 30 minutes is about right. The only thing that I have noticed that slows down my fill time and pressure in the coach is the whole house filter getting plugged.

A normal 2.5 GPM flow takes 40 minutes for 100 gal.

3 GPM times 30 minutes equals 90 gallons. Seems about right. 100 gallons divided by 3 GPM equals 33.33333 minutes.

Grab a 5 gal bucket and time how long it takes to fill. My tank takes forever but then it takes a long time to fill a bucket too. In theory you can get like 40 gal gallons PER MINUTE out of a 80 PSI garden hose but that would be impossible in the real world. More likely you will get 3 to 8 GPM so a 70 gal tank would take nearly half an hour to fill.

No, Newmar does not install a pressure limiter.

Filling a 100 gallon fresh water tank at about 2 gallon a minute takes 50 minutes which is normal.

You beat me to the answer Norm... Newmar just confirmed that they do not install a pressure reducer or limiter on the city water connection. They did mention that there is a ball check valve on the inlet to keep water from flowing out of the inlet, and those can become corroded and stick.

I dont think a small ball check would make the "thunk" that I hear, however. So am not sure what the noise is from. It doesnt seem to be a problem so I'm not going to worry about it.

Seems about right but open your gravity fill hole and see if air comes out. If so the air is not getting out fast enough from the vent hole.

Yup. 30 to 40 minutes to fill our 100 gallon tank, if starting from empty.

The last time I saw a gravity fill was on my pickup camper, well maybe there was one on my TT, but do motorhomes have them? Mine doesnt and I'll bet Dav-cl's doesn't either.
