It is a parameter algorithm that allows the computer to compare predicted temperatures and pressures to actual. There is a mode to auto-calculate it. It supposedly takes quite a while to do, but in practice it really doesn't.
I auto calc'ed mine, and other than an occasional "lost sensor contact" warning, I have had no false alarms since.
