Smoke alarm

When looking at a 2017 Ventana I noticed that the smoke alarm was mounted directly over the passenger seat. Does Newmar use photoeletric or the ionization type that contains a small radioactive element?

It should be marked if it is a radioactive type. Here is what I just read about them.

Radiation produced during normal use of ionization smoke detectors is so low it has no noticeable effect. If the ceramic chamber containing the radioactive material is removed and swallowed, exposure is about six times the desirable yearly exposure—still too low to cause acute*health effects.

If it concerns you, swap it out.

I assumed that it would be labeled on the inside of the detector. I did not want to take it apart since it is a new coach on a dealer's lot. Figured that a current owner may have noticed which type was used when replacing battery.
