Solar Panel ????

I have a 2002 Dutch Star with a solar panel that is 12 3/8 by about 19 1/4 in size, for some unknown reason it is cracked and not working. I would like to know if anyone knows what size it might be and where to look for the controller if ther is one. Also I wonder if I can buy a 25w panel and just replace the broken one. I can't find anything about the panel in my manuals so any info would help, thanks. Jim

That is a small trickle charge panel, some don/t even have a controller because they have 35 cells which prevents overcharging. If you remove the panel the specs might still be on the backside. you can just forget about it, or replace it with another small panel.

I can't think that I've read anywhere about the watts of my solar panel, I just know that it's small enough that there is no controller; that I've found anyway; and has only a 5 amp fuse.
If you looking for a replacement and stick with a low watt unit that doesn't require a controller then the existing wiring will be adequate.
I have a file that lists the standard equipment for my coach I'll re-read and see if any numbers pop up.

Ours is 10 watts rated. Yours is probably the same. How do you know it's not working ?

We have the same. I don't even know if it's working as the light on the dash has never been illuminated. I thought we might replace the panel with another, just for maintaining the batteries while stored

Where is the fuse located and where can I find the leads on the batteries?

Sorry for the interruption

L.

The reason I knew it wasn't working is the light wasn't on. I took it off and hooked up the cheap Harbor Frieght 5W panel that I put in the car when I tow, light in the MH is shining bright now. I quess that maybe I'll go to batteries plus and buy a 15W one and put it on. Jim

The panel I got from Batteries Plus wouldn't work. It had a built in controller and without receiving power wouldn't work. Got a 15W one from good Ole Harbor Freight hooked it up and works great. I'll have to get a PIC and post it when I'm all done. Need to go get some more self leveling chalk to seal around it. Jim
