Solar panel missing?

I have a 99 DSDP and am very new to it. On the dash is a solar charging indicator light. The wires are still connected behind the dash and I cant trace them to far back. I went on the roof and noticed a spot with mounting brackets and a 12v wire sticking out. I am wondering what type and how big of a panel was there? If anyone can help me figure this out I'd like to put a panel back and keep my batteries charged while in storage.

Just my opinion Jerry but I'd put whatever fits the brackets on there. The changes in solar technology is pretty awesome so I don't think you'll have to lay a lot especially since you're only looking to charge a little while in storage.

Our 2016 has a 10W Zamp Solar ZS-10-PP panel...

I did a quick search... Amazon has a kit with mounts and
some wiring . I think the link above is for the panels.

Hope that helps.

.6 amps isn't much. Especially considering it only give you .6 amps at peak sun... and close to zero the rest of the time.

Hi BigJerry,
The light on the dash needs to match the solar panel. Consider contacting Newmar customer service.

+1

The 2016 doesn't have a light on the dash for solar (That I've been able to find) which leads me to believe they may have changed specifications between 1999 and 2016 for the panels. I'm sure the parts guy, Joe Gentry, can find out what part you need.

Try... jgentry@newmarcorp.com

He's been super supportive!

My 2000 DS has a 5 watt solar panel on the roof. It was bad, I replaced it with a 5 watt panel from a solar fence charger. The new panel fit perfectly into the aluminum frame. I soldered the old plug onto the new panels cable. Working fine for a year now.

Finally added the solar charger. It's a 10 watt from Zamp. Click image for larger version
