Sold our coach on consignment in January. Worked with Ken Gifford at Independence RV in central Florida who does all consignments I believe. Wonderful experience. The process was as such - Ken gave me an estimate in December 2010 of $178,000 coming to me. If it came in less he would call me to discuss. This was a good price to me as it was book and $18k higher than North Trail had given me 6 months earlier. I dropped it off in mid-December after our last trip to Disney Fort Wilderness.

I did not expect to get $178k as we had unusual corrosion as we traveled in the Winter from Buffalo to the South. Lots of snow and ice and therefore salt. I spent less than $2k fixing up the coach with the service department replacing corroded hinges, fasteners, detailing etc. Service department was excellent and was very fair.

Ken and I discussed a few areas that would cost but, be attractive to the customer. One such are was the generator cover which had rusted. I decided not to do it and the customer that bought it required it be done. Ken was right on and I should have listened.

Ken called one day and said he had a buyer at $170k. I initially said no and he said no problem. We'll get it sold, couldn't believe how easy he was to work with. I changed my mind and agreed to $170k and the deal consummated on 2/21. (It took 3 weeks to clear title work etc.) Ken took care of everything and I had to virtually do nothing. This is a smaller dealer but, I would feel very comfortable doing business with them in the future.

Feel free to email me w/questions - scott@wnyjellystone.com

Was the $170K what you received or the selling price?

Sorry if that wasn't clear. $170k is what I received.

You did very well. As gas and diesel prices go up, it has to negatively impact RV sales. The hard part now, will be living without a Newmar.

Scott, Great to hear you got a good sale, but very sorry to lose you as an RVer. Are you going to buying something else?

Thanks for sharing your great report on a great dealer experience.

Cheers,

Peter

Out of RVing for a while, well as much as a campground owner can be out of RVing. We still loved it, just can't get enough nights away anymore w/the kids in school.

Hope you are well my friend. Would love to see you up here sometime if it is ever possible.
