Southwire Surge Guard 40350

Is the Southwire Surge Guard 40350 in the King Aire a one hit and then replace like some that are put in other manufactures? Do I need a surge protector before this to protect it?

Thanks for the help we are trying to decide on a Newmar or another manufacture.

I just emailed them last week about the 40350, here was there response.

Yes, you can use the Progressive Industries device with the Surge Guard 40350 transfer switch without causing any issues.

Regarding the 40350 product, if the 40350 takes a large surge that damages the board, there is not a replaceable fuse to repair the issue. What we typically find is that when there is a large enough surge to take out the surge protection components, there is the risk of damage to other parts of the circuit board. This is the reason why I typically recommend using a entry level surge protector to go along with the 40350 transfer switch as it is less expensive to replace the surge protector than it is to replace the entire transfer switch.

If you would like additional information or have further questions, please let me know.

That is the upgrade option I ordered in my D.S. 4369 (July pu). It had the same specs as the P.I. unit and cheaper as an upgrade. I will also be putting the Hughes Autoformer with surge protection in front of it.

They also make a remote monitor for it that I will be installing.
