Who said Spartan is easy to work with?? I have a 2005 DSDP which is still in the 3 yr warranty.(I purchased it new in 2007) It has a very harsh ride like most of the 2005 DSDP I have read about. I would like the koni shocks which seems to solve the problem according to this fourm. Talked to them three times and they said they wouldn't do anything about a rough ride>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Fair enough that you're still within warranty, but practically speaking, that rig is 5yrs old now. I certainly understand your frustration - I replaced mine out of pocket - but ride is subjective afterall and technically speaking, there's nothing wrong with the Bilsteins (though I personally hate them) - they're just too harsh for my taste. Some have had success getting Koni's put on as a good-will gesture. I feel I probably could have too if I were willing to make the trip to Michigan (I wasn't.)

I ordered through Precision Frame - $400 and did the replacement myself. It does make a tremendous difference! I think if you order the parts, you'll soon forget about the cost.

I've found Spartan to be tremendously helpful via e-mail and phone. Most recently, my rig was out of alignment. The shop indicated it couldn't be adjusted any further as the camber was maxed out. I contacted Spartan by e-mail, they took it upon themselves to look up the shop, contact them and give them instructions for making further adjustments.

Personally, I couldn't ask for better service. My previous rig was a Monaco; suffice to say, I couldn't be happier than with Newmar and Spartan.

Have you talked to Chris McCord at Spartan? He may be able to help.

My 2005 Dutch Star had a rough ride from day number one. I took it to Spartan and worked with Chris McCord and after taking a test drive he confirmed it had a rough ride. Spartan replaced the shocks, front air bags, suspension stops and upgraded the front tires to a larger size - all at no cost to me. I did purchase larger rear times so all the tires are the same.

My 2005 Dutch Star was built with a 14,600 lb front axle and 275/70 tires that were rated less than the axle. The components used in the front end gave a very rough ride. Spartan did everything they could to make me a happy customer and I will never have any other chassis.

I have been a Spartan owner / customer since 1999 and the first time I walked into Spartan's service office they said "we know you" and brought out people from the back rooms to meet me. Made me feel important. They had read my posts on the internet about how great a company Spartan is. The last eleven years they have taken good care of me (and my motorhomes).
