If you are not sure if you have the latest call Spartan Customer Service at 800.543.4277 Ext 3154 (Mike Hilborn) or Ext 3103 (Todd Lahr) They are handling the upgrade appts. Have your vin number available. It is great that they are coming to you. Paul

That's great, now what are those of us who are not in FL supposed to do? Last I asked a dealer, I was told that Spartan wasn't doing anything until it broke.

So what does the "upgrade" accomplish? ...is it for some models and not others? ...what year range does it cover? ...and is there a cost?

Jetsmania brings up a good point.
Not to be blunt or impolite, here's the simple answers.
0) It's only for the K2.
1) Call Spartan, not dealer.
2) You want to get this done. Period.
3) It covers the past few years of K2's.
4) Again, call Spartan.
5) No cost.
Search this forum, many long threads on this issue. The final fix has been years in the making and has turned out to be a thing of beauty as has Spartan's near eagerness to accomplish what must be a very expensive swap-out. Spartan gets exceedingly high marks for their final handling of this problem.

This is Rnicfingrp. I don't know how to contact you directly so I found your handle and used this topic. I uploaded the pic I said that didn't make it in our earlier emails. I think this is the pic that shows the By-pass valve being open. Their is another valve behind the partition that you can't see that I think is the Cold water valve. I do appreciate your help and the next time I need some advice I'll know how to send the pictures.

Are you saying that the By-Pass Valve is hidden behind the partition (that you can't see) instead of the one that that you can see on the Bay Floor. I would have thought for sure it's the one that is at the bottom of the picture.

I called today and Spartan will have people in Florida while we visit in mid February and will call me the first week to schedule the fan upgrade. That is good service!
Thanks, Daryl

Hi Daryl! Make sure you look us up when you head down. I had a slight leak in our fan gearbox and called Spartan. The next AM they sent the upgrade team over to our site. They replaced the Gearbox on our site. Great Service! Paul

Spartan was in the Seattle area in August and did my second upgrade, this time at my home. They changed the driveline to the fan and used one with a double u-joint. They do this because the raise the gearbox up to give more clearance for the belt not to hit the frame when the exhaust brake kicks on. The steeper angle created vibration. The double u-joint solves this. They also changed the big belt again (and gave me the one year old one for a spare) and the fan had to be changed because the rotation is reveresed. A couple of other changes also. They took about two hours and were on their way to the next repair at a dealer to do dealer stock. I think Spartan is giving great service on this issue. Fortunately I was not one that was stranded before the first fan campaign.

If you have a K-2 Chassis might want to call Spartan and see if yours is effected and they will come and fix it.
