I have a 2003 Kontry Star and when I attempt to start I get nothing when I go to start. When turned on everything is normal but when go to start, all lights go off and nothing. This is a 2003 Freightliner XC chassis. The starter is new, had it checked out and replaced. Thought that was it but no. The battery voltage at the starter is good. I checked the small wire on the solenoid and when attempting to start there is no voltage. I am looking for assistance or at least a wiring diagram. Thanks

You might get the battries checked before you dig farther especially if they are the orginals. It not so much voltage as cranking amps for chassis batteries. Autozone or some parts place can do a load test on the batteries.

In April I had them tested as I had a starting problem back then. Found the Started had a broken tooth on it. NAPA tested the batteries. I am at that point that that is one more thing to have tested. I plan to do that today.

Brian,
What you describe is a characteristic of bad battery connections. I would also check the connections on the starter as well. You mention that all lights work when the key is on, do the light dim when the key is turned to start??

Sorry, I just reread your post and see that the light go out when the key is on.
