Static Through Speakers

I am getting a lot of static coming through the speaker system. The static comes and goes and varies in loudness. This happens with the radio off.
Sometimes I get this when I turn on a floursent light, but not always. Last night, it was on and off all night long. The only items running were two electric heaters.
Any ideas on what is causing this static.

The first thing to look for is loose ground connections. The way to do this is just track down the wires and make sure you have a clan and tight ground.

If this does not work, we 'll have to search else where.
