Steering wheel blocks view of instrument panel

At the Tampa RV show last week, I put the seat & steering wheel in the proper position for me (6’ 1” tall), and took pics from eye level.

In the Dutch Star (top) there is an unobstructed view of the primary gauges.
Not so much with the London Aire.

Gives you a good reason to buy the London Aire!

You just saved $250 k.

But my guess is that if you played around with the LA you could find the same thing. Maybe not.

What I do not understand is why they don't have a memory seat and mirror like a $20 k car has that way you can set everything and then DW can do the same.

Based on how much of the center of the steering wheel is visible in both photos the angle is different in the second on maybe accounting for the blocked view. Also just tilt the wheel UP a bit and the problem will be gone.

I was thinking the same thing about the memory seats. In addition to the memory seats, if they had them track forward before slides come in would be helpful. I haven't destroyed a seat yet but I understand that it happens quite often

Aaaah!....but if you paid a $100k more and bought an Essex, you could have that memory seat feature. Another good reason to upgrade!

Actually, I've not used this feature because I haven't taken time to learn how. But I'm thinking if the op moved the steering wheel tilt he might have had a different result...something you usually can't do with show coaches.

On the DS, the info center is on the top making the instruments lower.

Hi 99phantoms,
This is nothing new. My coach has been this way and it is an 05. If the steering wheel is high, I can not see the dash lights in case of an error notification. If the steering wheel is lowered the top of the speedo is not visible and the bottom of the steering wheel is rubbing on my legs.

My choice is to have the steering wheel high and miss any error notifications. I'm not sure this is unique to Newmar.

Yes, that's the difference in these 2.

If you tilt the steering wheel forward enough you can unobstruct any line-of-sight.

On the 2016 AC Eagle... the 3 LCD displays are slick looking, but they were mostly blocked by the steering wheel.

(btw, the Eagle has a hand-stitched leather glare shield that looks nice, but is significantly taller & blocks a lot of your vision directly in front of the coach)

The Tiffin Allegro Bus seemed well laid out.
