My new coach has a step cover as most of you do. My old coach didn't have one and I had step cover envy.
Now that I have one, I'm not sure when to use it. When we are camping, we're in and out so much it doesn't seem practical. When we're driving, doesn't seem to be much use for the space.
The only time I've used it is to show friends and family my new coach.
Can any of the fine participants in the this forum enlighten me please? How do you use it? When etc.

We rarely have used this or the one on the last coach. It comes in handy if you are transporting any kids, as they could easily fall down there. Additionally we have closed it ocassionally when the dog continues to lose her ball down the steps. As she is only a 13 pound pooch, she will normally look at me and expect I will get it.

Hi Scott,
Merry Christmas to you and the family.
If you are talking about the ability to swing up the top step to make a flat floor in front of the passenger seat, we use it:

when traveling - My wife likes the flat floor in front of her when we are traveling.

When parked - It is used when the weather is cold. The flat floor seems to reduce/eliminate a draft. It is also used, if for any reason, I am not comfortable where we are parked. If anyone was able to get the door open, the raised step/flat floor would make their entry into the coach much more difficult.[/list]

All good ideas....
We especially use it when traveling as it gives those folks with longer legs than mine a place to put them....(What say you? EVERYONE has legs longer than me??)
HA!! Beat ya'll to it....
My SIL is especially tall and made the remark that his legs got sore just hanging and he wanted to know how to put the floor up...

We disabled ours the first week and made it so we could use the area underneath for shoe storage as many coaches(poor Newmar design) have with the step cover!

The Winnebago and Itasca products actually have a sliding cover that comes out and covers that entire well...

TO GaryKD,
That was a great security idea, thanks for the tip. Not to slight anyone, but the cold weather idea was good also, but if the good lord keeps being kind to me, I won't be in cold weather.

Thanks for your kind words. It is a long story, but I was in Michigan when the cold weather hit and it snowed. Unfortunately, the situation was out of my control. Like you, Lord willing, I will not be in cold weather again.
