Steve with a physical switch like yours I don't know that it matters which side. For the OP unless he wants to add a switch, not a bad idea if you plan to store it regularly, then pulling the negative is safer. Depending on storage temps for long term pull the batteries and take them someplace dry, warm and charge them manually if the storage is going to be awhile.

Seems like some mfg's disconnect switches do not disconnect...
I had a thor/crossroads/redwood 38gk 5er that would kill the 3 batteries in DAYS with the disconnects 'disconnected'.... so I opted to unhook a cable for the short time I had it.

I added the two disconnect switches - coach didn't have one. Just the two salesman switches and they were about useless for anything beyond a week or so +/-.

The NHRA requirement for positive post cutoff is due to the alternator keeping an engine running even if the battery is disconnected. The alternator is also wired to the shutoff. Obviously this is more for safety than storage, but street hot rods are often set up that way as well for garage storage and antitheft. Although some will use a pole throw knife blade on the negative post.
