Storage bins pop open--need advice

I have had several trips in my 2005 Kountry Star where I had a bin popped open, even though it was locked and the door seemed tight.

I called Newmar and they said to adjust the doors so you cannot close them without actually pushing fairly hard to get them to click.

Right now my dealer set them so you have to slam them, but not actually push after they close. He claims they should stay locked.

Does anyone know for sure how they should be adjusted?

I had to adjust mine to where you had to slam them shut by placing the palm of your hand over the lock while shutting them. Not excessively hard or anything but much more than just "pushing" them in. After I adjusted them like that they have not come open on the road since.

Take a look at the lock mechanism itself. When my door was popping open(during a sharpish right turn), I found the metal of the lock itself was bent. A further look showed about 1/2 of my locks were bent and loose.

Once tightened and adjusted, a firm push is all that is needed to securely close the door.

I also replaced all the rubber bumpers so the door has a nice, pliable rubber surface to close against.

We were having this problem (slide tray movement, bumping and causing cabinet doors to swing open when in motion) and reported it to Newmar during a recent factory maintenance appointment.

The factory techs solved the problem by 1) adjusting the slide hardware (how ever they did that?) and adding stop catches to the back of the problem slide trays (upper cabinet tray above sink + all cabinet trays in pantry). Now when we close them (slide trays) we have to give each an additional yet slight push to latch the rear stop catches (can feel them latch), then close the cabinets doors. Since these were added, we've had no other "false openings" when in motion.

Note: this was done with each of the slide trays loaded as we normally keep them. Did not require us to reduce added weight from the items we store in each.

Even after I tug on all doors, prior to driving off, I stop after exiting the camp ground and will, invariably, find a door loose after the frame has done some twisting on the short drive out.
