I have 2000 Newmar 38' Dutch Star with a 10 gal Suburban elec/gas water heater. Would someone with the same exact model RV and Water Heater please send me a picture/drawing of the correct water heater valve positions? I am getting luke warm water from my WH and I think I have changed the valve positions. Someone told me I have the "By-Pass" valve in the wrong position but I don't know which valve is the By-pass valve.

Rnicfingrp, when you look at the pipes going into the WH the cold in and hot out will each have a valve, in line between the two valves you will find the bypass valve. When you winterize the WH you will close these two valves and open the bypass valve so your antifreeze will not go into tank. Tried to find pic but no luck yet.
Another thing to check for cool hot water is make sure your exterior shower valves are closed in your water bay. If they are open will act as a mixing valve cooling your hot water coming out of your WH.

I'v attached a couple WH of pictures from my RV showing the current valve positions. If you would look at them and tell me which valves are in the wrong position I would appreciate it.

The points A&B are they the input and ouputs from water heater?
The pic does not show what I would consider a bypass setup there should be three valves somewhere coming off back side of water heater input and output water pipes with the bypass valve between them you would close the input and output valves on WH and open the bypass valve between them for winterizing and just do the reverse for normal use.
The veiw in the pic is very neat I would look for a plastic diagram posted someplace around WH or near the water pump with your winter anti feed line to water pump. I have a diagram near my setup but you have to look for in in water tank bay which exposes the pipes into WH and water pump it maybe on frame of compartment in water tank area. Newmar has always had such a diagram in my coachs.
Your shower looks ok to me but its not in the bypass setup as such.
Let us know how you make out.

"007",
Thanks for the input. I had attached another pic but I guess it didn't make it thru to you that shows the left side of the WH. It has the 3 valves you are talking about and my current setting for the "middle" valve (By-Pass?) is set in the "open" position. I'll close the middle valve and also look for a diagram in the bay. I'll also try and find the missing pic and post it to you. I'm new at posting the pic's and find it kind of challenging to say the least. Seems like it should be easier to post a pic.

Thats ok you are correct in closing the middle valve will force the water thru hot and cold outlets. If water to hot can use middle as mixing valve.

Attached is a pic of how a 38' Newmar Dutch Star's valve positions. If you set your valves in this configuration, you will not have any mixing of cold and hot water.
A correction the center valve "bypass" will be turned to open position when winterizeing your coach and hot and cold valves will be closed after draining the water out of water heater and also from lowpoint drains in water bay and fresh water tanks if you have two of them.
After draining all water open the bypass valve and the anti will bypass the water heater with hot and cold valves closed.

I use Picasa. It's available from Google and it's FREE. Just Google "Picasa" and the site will come up. I download the pics from my camera to my desktop and if you use Picasa, they are saved there on the harddrive. I then go intp the Picasa program, find the pic and add the script to the image. Really straight forward and easy to do.

007,
I've changed the by-pass valve wording per your input.
