Lightbulb Suggestions for future Newmar's (Innovative thoughts)

We all know Newmar reads these forums right? So why not start a constructive thread of suggestions for future Newmar models. I've had a few ideas, this thread is a great way to get the thoughts on "paper" before it gets lost after 2.5 seconds which is the typical amount of time it takes me to forget.
  1. Audio controls on steering wheel
  2. When in reverse tilt both left and right mirrors down 10-20 degrees. Mirrors need different positions for driving vs. backing into a campground space.

Neal, I got a good one, how about the option on all coach levels to have TPMS. I know we all put them on, why not have it installed by the factory the the King has.

I would think with the mirrors tilted down you might miss that tree branch that takes out the awning.

My thoughts would be to have all those that design these things be required to actually use them and take copious notes on what they would fix.

I concur with the audio controls.
Don't put the OTA control box on the wall near the floor by the passenger seat.
All power outlets to include a USB charging slot.
Dual single bed option
Offer a no slide, ordered on request option.

Hi All,
Controls on the steering column are a decision of the chassis manufacturer. Newmar has requested controls for the radio and hands free telephone for years. Currently the chassis manufacturers decline to do this. Gut feel says the cost of engineering and DOT certification does not justify the potential market. The RV industry just doesn't buy enough product.

Hmmmm...... How about these.

* Power fold-in mirrors
* Paddle shift transmission control
* Heads-Up tach and speed projection
* Non-steering tag deletion

And there are more........................

I'm with ya on the controls on the wheel but I would not be as hot on automatic tilting mirrors. I have my convex mirrors adjusted for great visibility for backing without any expensive mods.

I question the need for old style external rear view mirrors with the new 6 camera Xite HD 360 Camera System. It would seem a couple of LCD panels in portrait view mounted internally on the right and left windshield pillar hooked to the respective right/left camera would be all you need.

I think the best and most innovative they could do is work with the Chassis builders to test/build a MH on a chassis with a hybrid engine . Now don't say it can't be done because the technology is there, and I've already seen it on some delivery trucks. A few of the ones I saw I spoke to the drivers, and the drivers said they had plenty of power(they were pulling regular size delivery trailers). They said they got better gas mileage but were not sure of the exact figures as they don't buy the gas and don't really pay that close attention to gas mileage. Now that would create some re-sale issues for those of use with regular engines whether gas or diesel, but it will definitely be part of the future for MH's.

Entegra has radio and audio controls on their steering wheel as standard equipment. This is on a Spartan chassis so there is no reason why Newmar couldn't do the same

Suggestions for future Newmar's (Innovative thoughts)

The DW suggests dual zone climate controls for the pilot and co-pilot.

Make the interior light fully dimmable, soft close toilet seats.

Interlocks preventing closing any slide when the seats are in the way.

This one will take a lot of engineering and probably road testing:

A mirror to view the area behind the driver IN the coach? Ever wonder what just dropped? What is the dog getting into? Are the kids strapped in? Why don't we have a cockpit mirror????

This is standard equipment on the 2018 King Aire. Seven cameras, six outside one inside.
