Flashlight buoys are a good idea, I use a 3" red reflector 9" on either side of the coach on the back wall of our garage to define the channel, really helps backing in, especially with Comfort Drive. Once aligned, CD will keep you backing straight in,

Other than the power assist...how does Comfort Drive help you backing straight in? I don't have the system so haven't experienced it yet.

with comfort drive, if you allow the steering wheel to realign itself to straight, comfort drive will keep it going straight without driver steering intervention.

I created a channel with painters tape on the floor of the garage, passenger side. As long as my rear wheels stay just inside the tape I am centered.

For stopping point I have a boxed area taped off for the drivers wheel that I can easily see from the seat.

This was a temporary test with plans to paint but so far even the tape has lasted about 20 cycles of movement

How ‘bout a fresh water tank system that doesn’t dump water?

Recently took an interstate exit, stopping halfway up the off-ramp w/ right wheels in the gravel. Coach was in a SLIGHT right bank. Went outside & noticed water spilling from the fresh tank overflow. Over the next 1 hr lost about half (50 gal) of the almost full fresh tank. (the Newmar service rep didn’t know the reason for the leak)

Next day I told a fellow Newmar owner that I lost half my fresh tank. He immediately responded “Where you tilted to the right?” “Yes!!” He told me this is a common problem w/ the Newmar fresh tank system - stop in a right bank when near full & you’ll lose up to half your fresh tank. YGBSM

Newmar already has corrected this with a much improved and very simple fix.

This post shows the new improved method: http://www.irv2.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4484205

I have zero loss of water on my 2019, even when over filling. There is absolutely no siphoning when overflowing. Huge improvement.

I think a non ComfortDrive vehicle will do same though.

Ya, I was pleasantly surprised when I found that. Almost made up for the terrible wire mess!

The difference though, specifically is, the servo mechanism. If you're sitting still, and turn the wheel all the way or part way left or right.....and let go....the CD system automatically returns the wheel to center.

One of these days I have to drive a CD equipped Newmar. Then again, maybe I shouldn't because it might be an expensive test drive...but I am pretty good at resisting such temptation.

I guess that backing CD "feature" just doesn't seem to be a big deal. Turning the wheel is the least of my issues when backing. And Caster does the same for forward driving. Visibility is a much bigger deal even though I am very comfy using all the mirrors I have. I am going to have to carve some time out for upgrading the camera system.
