Surround sound

I have a 2006 KSDP with the old Sony Trinitron TV & Sony DVD/VCR Receiver Home Theater system (HT-V700DP). I don't have the manual on the TV, so this is my question. How do I get the surround sound to work? I put in a DVD that says it has surround sound, I check the settings on the receiver, on the TV & did the speaker test. During the test I hear all the speakers. When I try to change the settings on the TV all I get is the sound from the TV. What am I missing?

Thanks for any help.

Our coach has a Sony Audio/Video Control Center (STR-DE435) w/surround sound. It has several selector buttons. To get sound from our TV I depress TV/SAT button.

We also have a button for "CD" which switches to the sound source from our CD/DVD player, have you tried depressing the CD/DVD button on your theater system and see if you get sound from your CD/DVD player?

Wish I could be of more help, let us know when you find the fix...

Good luck and safe travels...

You can download the Op Manual in pdf form from the web for $4.95 (heck, you may even find a free one)! I searched for "Sony HT-V700DP". Good luck.

Countrypair, try turning the tv sound to 0 and adjust the sound from the Home Theater unit. I had the same setup and this worked for me.
