Does anyone know how to turn off the backlighting on the switch pads in a 2011 Essex. They glow blue and at night it becomes annoying when all the lights are off. Thanks in advance for any help.

Remove the offending switch plate(s) and simply disconnect (cut) either wire that feeds the blue LED glued to the backside of the switch plate.

At first I thought you were joking but I called Newmar today and the customer service guy said that they in fact cannot be turned off. He said Newmar is working on a fix but would most likely require switch replacement. He admitted that it was overlooked by their engineers and has just now come to light ( pun intended)! It looks like i will be cutting wires........

You could get really fancy and wire a tiny push button switch (Radio Shack) into the LED (into either wire) and drill a hole for it on the faceplate. Then you could turn it on/off as needed.

The micro sized switches would be fine, there is practically no amp load for an LED. Micro push button would take very little room on the faceplate.

Be gentle in screwing the faceplate back on. The screws just go into plasterboard wall material and are exceedingly easy to strip.

Really....
