Does anyone use synthetic oil in their genset??
Have a 7500 Onan quiet diesel? Looking for any comments..

I have always used the saame oil in the engine and generator. I change the generator oil once a year or every 150 hours and I see no benefit of using synthetic oil.

I use synthetic oil in my ISM, but not my 12.5 Onan. I believe even though the genset does not have a turbo or compressor, it is probably still worth the running of syn oil. Here's a link to an article I did on syn oil about whether it is worth the bucks. SYN OIL

You might look at your Genset operators manual, my 2008, 8.0 Cummins Quiet Diesel Generator specifically does not recommend the use of syn oils.
